THE PONY XPRESS May 2013

May 2013

MESSAGE from district commander:

The body of flesh is the seat of temptation to self-indulgence. One great object of fasting and abstinence is to secure this control over our bodies and soul, so that ‘the flesh and your will may be subdued to the spirit.’ Do you think that your witness is more important than your personal liberty? As Christians we should judge the correctness of our actions -- not only on what is right and wrong -- but also based on how our actions might impact others (1Corinithians 8:13). How about when no one is looking--it’s just you and God--could your actions have a direct or indirect influence upon your ministry to others? I say yes! Self-indulgence at a minimal level will contribute to impact the outcome pertaining to ministerial magnitude. In what ways have you restricted your liberty to improve your witness?

May work days upon us: Rotary Scout Reservation in Glasgow. Be there of be square!

Some People succeed because they are destined to, but most people succeed because they are determined too. (Ephesians 6:13)

Ways to Boost Master's Toolbox

Your district is looking for ten churches to support this mission outreach with $1.00 a day for 2013.
WE NEED YOUR HELP TO FUND A Royal Ranger Campground in Kisumu, Kenya.
$30 IN 30 DAYS
Here’s an idea you can use. Your outposts would select a specific month to take on the “$30 in 30 Days Challenge.” This is a doable project for every Royal Ranger and leader! The objective is simple. Within one month, or any 30-day period, do something to earn $1 a day for Master’s Toolbox. Boys can take on any chore at home and earn a dollar a day. Think of it! If just 100
Royal Rangers and leaders in our district will take on the “$30 in 30 Days Challenge,” then $3,000 can be generated in just one month for Master’s Toolbox! If you were to get 300 boys and leaders to take on the challenge, that would result in $9,000 in one month! The bottom line is that our district could make a major impact on Kenya’s homeless children by helping to fund a
Royal Rangers campground in Kisumu, Kenya. Every outpost can help in this! Contact me at xpert-exteriors@yahoo.com just say we want to help, and I will get you on the road to this most urgent mission outreach.

DEVOTION
The First Obstacle to an Eternal Agenda: Family Relationships

Mark 3:33,35 Who is my mother, or my brethren? For whosoever shall do the will of God, the same is my brother, and my sister, and mother.

Thoughts for Today:
We're all getting older and the day of the Lord's return is getting closer. So whether we live into old age or the Lord comes back for us this afternoon -- it doesn't matter. Time is running out! James 4:14: "Why, you do not even know what will happen tomorrow. What is your life? You are a mist that appears for a little while and then vanishes." With this thought as the preface to this comment, let’s look at four obstacles that may prevent us from fully committing to an eternal agenda. The first: "My Family Relationships". Not to minimize our family relationships, family is very important, but should not become adulteration worship.

Many people miss out on the opportunity to become involved in Kingdom work simply because they make family relationships their number one priority. (James 4:17) Throughout their lives, when called into some aspect of ministry, they find a reason to postpone. At the beginning of their relationship they say, "We can't participate now because we're getting married. After we're settled, then we'll really be ready to serve the Lord!" However, a few years later, when asked to be a participant the responses are, "We want to serve, but we have to get the baby out of diapers first." Then it's, "We can't take him (or her) out of school, soccer practice, or piano lessons." The delays and excuses go on and on. So what happens? More often than not, those who place too much emphasis upon the family, find problems within the family, because they didn't follow the direction and calling God had placed upon their lives along the way.

Instruction in our passage today should be taken to heart by everyone: "Get outside yourselves and your family -- the Lord's work is more important than your relationship." I have learned from my own family experiences, if we seek the Kingdom first, then everything else will fall peacefully and properly into place (Matthew 6:33).

Questions to Ponder:
Is your family going through some challenging times? Where is the Lord placed in the priority of your family's agenda? Is the Lord place at the top and uncompromised, or somewhere else? What is most important from an eternal perspective?.
