DEVOTION: To Infinity And Beyond
JOHN 14:3Thoughts for the day: where I am there you may be also.
It is a misrepresentation of Christianity to think that Christ died so that people could go to heaven.
The closing announcement of the Bible of a coming new heaven and new earth does have some future implications. But if we are conditioned into thinking only in terms of geography we may completely miss the point of what being in covenant with God is all about. "Heaven" is not so much about a location as it is about a relationship! (John 3:2)
Dying and going to heaven is not merely about a change in location but a blessing due to a covenant relationship with God. The most important thing you could do with your life now is not merely to prepare for heaven, but to ensure that you have entered into a covenant relationship with God.
Christ died so that people could be forgiven of their sin and He rose again so we could enter into a covenant relationship with God!
In times like these, my encouragement is with these words— finish strong! I encourage you to finish strong. You may say, “I’m at the start; why should I worry about the finish?” But how you want to finish determines the way you live your life in between the start and the finish.
Our Kentucky Royal Rangers’ LEAD conference is coming up ASAP March 30th&31th

Paul said, “You’ve all been to the stadium and seen the athletes race. Everyone runs; one wins. Run to win. All good athletes train hard. They do it for a gold medal that is perishable and fades. You’re after one that’s gold eternal and imperishable . I don’t know about you, but at sixty three years of age I’m running hard for the finish line. I’m giving it everything I’ve got. No sloppy living for me! I’m staying alert and in top condition.” (I Cor. 9:24-27).
God created you a unique individual with very particular gifts and a very particular calling (Eph. 2:10). He wants you to live strong and finish strong. To that end, let me pass along some advice I recently heard— to finish strong, be BAD! (Nowadays that means good, of course!)
B – Be a passionate follower of Christ. God created you for a radically close relationship with Himself. Daily invest in that relationship, building your life around Him as your source (Mark. 3:14, 15). Only in Him can your unique God-created fingerprint make its best mark on the world (your legacy).
A – Accomplish much. You were designed for greatness. To that end, train yourself daily to do what has to be done, when it has to be done, as well as you can possibly do it, all the time. Ask for God’s wisdom and direction all along the way, and when you hear from Him, obey (Phil. 4:13). Do that, and throughout the life of your legacy, all will be speechless with awe at what God does through you.
D – Devote yourself to others. As you are out accomplishing great things, never lose sight of what is most important—loving God, loving your spouse, your children, your family, your friends (Mt. 22:37-38). At the end of life, they will celebrate your accomplishments with you. This is your Legacy!
Take this BAD advice, servant leaders! It is the bridge between your goals and your achievements. Congratulations to you, and as you embark on this new and exciting season in your legacy of life, make plans now to finish strong.
Questions to Ponder:
THERE IS STRONG AND THERE IS ROYAL RANGER STRONG.
(2 Samuel 22:33-51)
Royal Ranger Readiness reflects the Strength of the Royal Ranger Team as well as the Alertness of the mental, physical, and spiritual strength that lies within each Ranger. It is strength of Cleanliness of body, mind, spirit, and soul; reflecting an Honest character forged through Courage in spite of danger criticism or threats. The Royal Rangers’ emphasis is on personal development, individual values and Loyalty to team work. The Royal Ranger is Courteous to all that he comes in contact; reflecting the spiritual strength and Obedience of our Royal Rangers; to their parents, leaders and those in authority. A Royal Ranger’s Spiritual strength lies within his personal relationship with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ; strengthen by their families, friends and love ones that understand, encourage, and support them financially and spiritually.
Are you Ready now to start strong? Are you Ready to finish strong? If yes is your answer, this will determine how you will live between the start and finish. You’re Ministry Legacy!
